Quick A/C Wiring Question - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

The wiring diagram doesn't really show me the answer. This is the plug that goes on the back side of the A/C control switch on an AAW factory fit harness. What is the short brown wire for?

That should be the power feed from the fuse panel

Edit: I believe its labeled ac/heat on the fuse panel terminal and protected by a 25amp fuse

Is there an in-line fuse? My harness did not come with one.

Per your picture there should be a inline fuse on it. That's what the small black housing on the end is part of a inline fuse holder.

Sure looks like one side of an inline fuse on the AAW harness in your pic. On an oem harness the brown wire goes directly into the fan switch plug but i have seen some eith a small pigtail and packard 56 male and female conectors. The trucks fuse center protects the circuit with a 25 amp fuse so an inline isn't necessary. If you have the oe harness with the wire terminal on the end of the brown wire you can de pin the small aaw pigtail out of the connector and land the oe one in place. Hope that helps

Couple good answers there....i will try to clarify this.

The factory dash harness has a brown wire which powers the switch for ac or heat only switches, that wire plugs into the position of that short wire, remove the stubby wire and insert the brown dash harness wire.
As others said, the brown wire originates at the heat/ ac fuse, i think heat gets 15a fuse and Ac gets the 25 a fuse, the fuse box is marked as such.

Thanks for the responses guys. I was confused why the A/C harness from AAW had the end for an in-line fuse but it didn’t come with the other end. I was thinking it was unnecessary because it is protected at the fuse box. I thought maybe I was missing something.

It sucks not being able to hear! LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB! After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
