Good aftermarket Rubber Gaskets/Grommets. Whats out there?

I'm in the process of building a 1972 c10 and a 1968 c10 for a driver. Back in November 2019 I bought the 68 and it didn't have a fuel tank in the cab. So, I decided to use my near perfect 72 tank I had lying around because the 72 is a ways away from being on the road. So, I purchased the correct filler neck grommet from Lutty's Chevy on November 20th and had it installed on November 23rd as they are rather close to my house so shipping was super quick. Well this picture was taken Sunday, February 2nd and the grommet is already worse than the original one on my 1969 c10. I have a few original 1967-1970 fuel tank grommets that I can use for the 72 and I'll just order a 67-70 fuel tank for that truck.

Anyways, my purpose behind this thread, what aftermarket companies are selling quality rubber's for the 1967 to 1972 c10's. I mean it's one thing to change the grommet on the filler neck which we all know what is involved. However, I am not into replacing the window channels and wing window rubbers if they are going to dry rot in 2 months. Granted the 68 is sitting outside but this PA winter has been super mild and its only been 2 months? Just curious to what everyone has had good luck with and what has lasted? Thank You.

I generally use Classic Heartbeat, but there are other good ones too. You might check the vendor board.

I agree, the ones Classic Heartbeat carries are very high quality.

Re: Good aftermarket Rubber Gaskets/Grommets. Whats out there?

I bought mine from Classic Industries for my 1969 daily driver a couple years ago and I'm pleased with it. It seems to be made of the correct formula of rubber and is not cracking like the picture you show. I think there is a fair amount of luck needed in getting stuff that is made with the correct rubber because most manufacturer's just don't care. I had a Stant brand gas cap that was made with the wrong rubber and it cracked and fell apart almost immediately. I wrote to their tech support and they just said they've been using the same stuff since the 1930's and they have no plans to change.

Thanks Everyone for the replies. I'm willing to pay top price, I just want something to hold up. The wing windows and cab class are projects within themselves and I don't want to have to do it again and again.

Re: Good aftermarket Rubber Gaskets/Grommets. Whats out there?

My research on rubbers led me to Precision seals for the glass. I know GMCPauls sells Precision rubber because I just bought all my glass seals from them and they look top notch. I am installing them now so I don't have any time on them yet, but others on here talk up Precision seals hence my purchase.

GMC Pauls seems to carry the higher end stuff and even warned me of some items that might not be of good quality that they offer. It must have been a drop ship item, but they contacted me after I entered the order and told that they thought this item was of poor quality and that I should consider looking for good used. I canceled that item and will be looking for the upper trim pieces for the door interiors.

Re: Good aftermarket Rubber Gaskets/Grommets. Whats out there?

I just bought a gas tank grommet from Wes at Classic Heartbeat. I never thought I would say this about a grommet but this thing is beautiful! And guaranteed forever. I have used others that start cracking within a year or two. I talked with Wes on the phone before ordering and discovered this is actually a product he designed and is producing-- so buy from the source (Wes) or elsewhere, but make sure it is his grommet!
