Re: Where is everyone located?
Hey, can I suggest we try to give a picture or tell something about your city/town/area? So far I've gained nothing that I couldn't read under the avatars.
I'm in Mt. Airy, MD. I have no pictures and there's nothing really to say No, not really. I guess there are some things to say and pictures. Google it The town isn't as old as most in the area. It came about as a result of the B&O Railroad and it's location on Parr's Ridge, the divide in the Central Maryland Piedmont. It was a whistle stop, and it is where "The National Road" crosses over the ridge. I'm about 5 miles out of town.

Re: Where is everyone located?
I am located in central Arkansas, about 20 minutes northeast of Little Rock. I am 20 minutes south of Boog and about two hours south of the other Larry. My little town is another former railroad town that is now pretty much a bedroom community to the Little Rock area.
I was born and raised in the Ozark mountains and I spend as much time up there chasing smallmouth bass as I can. The photo below is one of my favorite places in the Ozark National Forest. The person in the photo is my wife, she likes to hike and wade fish as well. This creek feeds into the lower Buffalo River.

Re: Where is everyone located?
Monaca, PA. About 20 miles North West of Pittsburgh.
Shell is building a cracker plant here. It will be named Pennsylvania Chemicals when completed. This area is finally seeing economic growth. Basically the first real growth since the Steel and Zinc plants closed.

Re: Where is everyone located?
North Central Arkansas, about 20 miles south of the Missouri state line. The industry here is diverse. We have had the largest merchandiser in the world (defunct) Fed Ex Freight was born here, aluminum die casting, and if you see a Wabash truck trailer on the road the floor was made here. We had a Levi's plant for years (Now in Mexico) and a Flexsteel Furniture factory (also in Mexico now).
The KKK has a presence here (6 people) so if you do an internet search for Harrison, AR it looks like we are a mecca for hate (total BS). We had a railroad here that ended on the east end near 67C10Step, that went broke in the late forties. In the second pic, my parents used to live in the white house on the hill on the right overlooking the creek.. I included a pic or two of the upper end of the Buffalo River.

Re: Where is everyone located?
We do have many different trees around here. I really enjoy the area. Im far enough out of Pittsburgh to miss most of the rat race, but close enough to be downtown with 30 to 45 minutes (depending on traffic).

Re: Where is everyone located?
I'm liking the pictures. Great shot there Greg. Nice looking engine, too.
I'm learning some neat stuff. I did look up Harrison, AR and found the squawk about it being the hotbed for the KKK. I also read about the mayor, at the time, on an incentive to kill that myth. I watched YouTube video by the chamber of commerce and they present a very pleasant town/area, about what I figured it to be. What's funny is the last decent trip I made was to JQ2's place in Killen, AL and then to White House, TN for the SE Chevy Truck Nats. When I looked up Killen I found the same thing, a hotbed for KKK. Here in the liberal state of MD, just a ways up the road, we have Rocky Ridge not far from Thurmont and we hear locally how that area is a hotbed for KKK. In fact, I hear the grand wizard lives there, or was if it's an election thing. But I've been hearing it for years. Often the info you research on an area is like driving through on the interstate. You don't get a very good feel for the actual area with the hills cut through and the valleys filled just moving on to the next road sign town.
