any recommendations for insurance?

I've had the hardest time finding insurance for my '72 as my daily driver. Well, now I'm getting my car back from my son and will be using that as my DD. Can anyone recommend a classic car insurance that doesn't need odometer readings (doesn't work) and is okay with a carport vs. a garage. And rea$onable. I'll still be driving it at least once a week. Thank you!

i used hagerty. they were one of the few that were good when i parked it in the driveway.
Then they lowered my rate when i moved it to storing it in the garage.
i dont remember odometer restrictions either.

Hagerty for me is $600.00 a year based upon $35,000.00 value and limited driving.
The carport you have is considered covered storage (I think?).

I just went and signed up with them after reading this.

Mine was 1k a year. I went ahead and listed the teenage driver in the house as someone who may drive the vehicle though. I think that is what bumped it up as it was saying initially around 600.

They must have raised there rates a bit since last year. I have a 17 yr old (now 18) and the quote included him and my wife for the $600.
I know they don't like a primary daily driver type scenario but didn't need an odometer reading which surprised me.
Overall very happy with their fast response without insane hold time.

AMERICAN COLLECTORS insurance. Same coverage as the other also. My 71 C 10, 56 Bel Air and the 64 SS Impala all valued at $30,000 each. Less than $600. a year no mileage.

They saved me over $300.00 per year over Hagerty's & Grundy. I'm very pleased with them.

Hagerty dropped me after one year because of my son who wasn't even on the policy. He had his own insurance.

Good luck, mine is valued at $600 NC tax value price and $30K stated value. What that means is it gets hit my uninsured driver, I wreck it, swept away in a flood, or stolen I get $600 and a salvage title. Someone hits me with insurance I get up to $30K. The daily driver is the key, there is no available classic insurance for a truck that is driven and no regular insurance co will give you full coverage on a classic that anyone has found yet that I am aware of. I have a very long post about this from a month or so ago where everyone replied and the conclusion was it doesn't exist.

May have also been that I said it would be semi-regular use at around 5k miles per year.

I would like some insurance other than just liability, but since my truck looks like a rust bucket I know an insurance company would not cover the $5000 that the engine and transmission and drivetrain work cost me. So, I suppose if I put $80/month in a savings account instead of giving it to an insurance company, I would be fully-enough self-insured after 4 or 5 years. I wish I had discipline enough to do that. The whole point of my truck is to drive anywhere I want, including to my work at an office building 3 or 4 times per week. I don't need any denied claim and cancelled insurance BS because I file for a loss in the parking lot or on the turn in to work, which is probably where my luck would lead me to have an accident. Classic car insurance does not want to cover a truck being used to go to work.

Wow . I have 8 cars with them my chevelle is valued at 40k and the AMX and my Hawk are at 27 and 30 . The others from 5 to 15 k and its $1200 a year . 100 dollar deductibles and 250/500 liability.

I have 0 deductible and live in WA State.....no clue if that makes a difference?

I would think NY would be higher . NY insurance law is you cannot have a zero deductible.

I just price out my 68 at $35,000 agreed value for $485 a year .. up to 5000 miles , garaged , not a daily driver , clean record . They were $150 less than Hagerty .

Hagerty for both trucks is in the $500 range. One is insured for 35K, the other around 6K. Salvage rights on the nice one, and parts coverage too. They'll even insure your tools.

The quote was from Grundy , there limits are higher than Hagerty .

Here's the result of my calling around/online quotes:
Not one "classic" insurer would insure it as a daily driver. It just doesn't exist. And no one but Hagerty would insure my truck without it being in a garage. Having it in a one-sided carport instead of a garage upped the yearly cost with Hagerty from $344 to $399. That's with a $1,000 deductible and a value of $21,000. Because I'll be taking it to a local shop for some restoration work, they're charging me $20/year additional for "under construction" coverage, which pays out a higher value if it's damaged while at the shop. When it's done, I will call them and get the value raised and the UC coverage dropped. All in all, I'm happy with this result... once I gave up on the daily driver notion, which in this cold winter I'm okay with. Thank you all!

I had to say what I use it for, which will be shows/parades and pleasure driving. It can't be a daily driver and it can't be raced, etc. So they don't have mileage restrictions per se, and they tout that as one of their positives.

Does each driver in the home have to have their own vehicle besides what you are insuring with Hagerty?
