66 k20 front shakcle replacement
I'm looking at replacing the front springs on my 66 k20, which are readily available and reasonable however the threaded pin, bushing and shackle for the rear mount are not (reasonable). I'm wondering if I could use this setup instead? I guess I need to know if the i.d. of the spring eye is the same, any other reason why that wouldn't work?

That setup will not work using stock spec springs. . Lmc has a rear shackles kit around 40 to 50 bucks each. The front spring eye bolt is the pricey one around 110 bucks each.

Re: 66 k20 front shakcle replacement
I thought the rear setup was more like $120 also. Is the reason it won’t work due to the size of the spring eye?

No I haven’t yet I just was trying to get ahead of the game. Everything else I’ve touched on this truck has been completely wore out or cobbled together so my expectations of any of it being useable are fairly low.

Re: 66 k20 front shakcle replacement
Spring eye size and spring width on rear of front spring on stock square body springs are bigger. You might be able to machine some aftermarket lift spring poly bushings to fit. But for 40 each for rear shackle kits and I believe general springs include the bushings you need I would go that route if your front eye bolts are still good. I am using 67 72 aftermarket springs that are the same length and

Re: 66 k20 front shakcle replacement
The $40 shackle assy LMC lists for $40 says 60-63. Classic Parts lists a late 63-66 for $110, but then for 3/4 ton gives the same part# as 60-63 for $120. I'm not sure which one I need or why they are different. I was hoping General spring would have those also, I'm going to call and ask before I order. They do say there are no bushings included with the front springs.
