Egad!

I was GOING to clean up my heater and maybe install it today. I got it out and started to work on it when I turned it over and saw "Model 31 The Chrysler Corporation"....Now what? Anyone want to trade?

Re: Egad!

That is just flat too funny but I'd say on the older trucks it happens as often as not. A lot of the trucks were shipped without heaters so they could be sold for a lower base price and some never had heaters put in them in the southern states. Or if the stock heater failed guys went to the wrecking yards and found one they could stick in.

I've got several Chevy heaters both standard and deluxe but to me none of them are worth what it would cost to ship them. Basically about all is good on any of them is the sheet metal and that would have to be refinished. Then an expensive heater core and control and maybe a fan motor.

Re: Egad!

I'll give him the housing either Deluxe or standard with proper Chevrolet emblem on it for the price of shipping but the cost of a new core and fan motor are far more than having an original heater is worth unless you are just bent on having the original heater and nothing else will do.

Personally, unless nothing will do except a stock heater I'd get a Vintage air compact heater with defrost and be done with it. https://www.amazon.com/Vintage-Air-5...QNWJ3KV5B53560

A heater core for the deluxe fresh air heater runs right at 190 no matter where you find one https://www.classicparts.com/1947-52...ctinfo/68-221/

The round core for the standard heaters run right at 300 and I wouldn't trust an original one that was 65 years old.
