I found a decent set of taillight trim from a 72 c20. So I grabbed them and installed them on my pickup. I did not use any of the clips. I used the 2 screws GM used + 2 more. I figured why not if it came with it this is probably it would be now any way. And I did not have to drill 7 holes

I put some on my work truck and it felt like putting lipstick on a pig. Also those after-market ones I bought were like aluminum foil and quickly folded up and off. I hope yours are better quality. -BA

I believe they are original gm.

I kind of did mine the same way, I added two screws instead of one. My box sides were new repo and didn't have any holes for the trim. The two holes I added are right under the back up light. My trim was repo and it isn't thick but has held up well. I drilled the two holes in the trim and then used a center punch to dimple the holes so the sheet metal screws fit flush. Don't why GM didn't do that in the first place.

Right. If they did not want screws showing. They could of used all clips. No screws visible. But they use 2 any way. Basically making the clips pointless in my opinion.
