Interior firewall floor redo questions
For the firewall, I wondered if I need to install both sound deadener and a firewall insulation pad or is it just one or the other? This is the pad I thought to get

It's kind of a personal preference thing. I did a butyl-based sound damplifier on the floor and all the way up the firewall. I also installed the interior firewall pad with the jute backing. Then I installed the carpet with the jute backing.

Yeah, I have seen a range of methods. I also watched a video brothers had and it looks like they dont sound deaden completely only in strategic spots and then put some kind of foil like covered jute.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_c...ature=emb_logo I had thought to do what you mentioned Vin63, cover the floor and firewall with the sound deadener, then do jute or foil like jute and then carpet. I didnt want to double up though on the jute if it already came attached to the carpet and make it too thick if thats a no no. Looks like they did though in the video. |

I run a 3-inch exhaust that is routed to the outside of the frame, so I wanted to quiet things down as much as possible.
