Darn kids
So, I have to get more beer, yes, it is needed. LOL. I ask my son to use his 69 since he has me blocked in. He says, "Sure, go ahead". I get in, start it up and move out. Notice a gas smell in the cab. HMMM? I thought maybe the carb loaded up when I started it, so I move on. Not changing much, so I think, OK. Gas tank is full, so maybe he spilled a bit. Nope. I get home and ask. He says, Yea, it happens when I fill up. SMH. Really? So, my question to the group, which tank, or which company did you all use to move the tank from behind the seat to the rear of the bed? I used Brothers on my 65 when I had it, and it was not too bad. I had to have a frame welded up if I remember correctly, but that was it. What suggestions you all got? Thanks. RR

I fixed the leaking vent hose and kept it in the cab.

Re: Darn kids
I appreciate the responses. Thanks to all. My end goal is to get the tank out of the cab so that it is done. He is a typical teenage boy that has very little motivation and even less interest in working with his dad on anything. LOL. I too like the Boyd tank, I will look into it.

Re: Darn kids
Moving the tank is not a bad idea imo. I am doing it. Using a later model Blazer tank as I want more fuel capacity than the 69-72 19-20 Gal stock Blazer tank. Most aftermarket are the same capacity. That said, if you change all the rubber fuel lines in the cab the smell will probably go away.

Re: Darn kids
'No limit' gas tank and Rob is a site sponsor. Call them. He will put the filler tube where ever you want it and he will add the Fuel Injection flange also for later use if you go with fuel injection. Great tank. Drill the holes and bolts right in.

Re: Darn kids
I used a Tanks Inc. tank. It was ok, but improper baffling. Rob at NoLimit fixed the baffling and added a sump box for the internal fuel pump. Certainly much cheaper than a new tank for my situation.
If I were to buy new again, it would be a NoLimit, or Boyd's.

Re: Darn kids
I got a tank from a square body with the skid plate. (from a salvage yard), It holds thirty something gallons and you have to be looking for it to see it.

Re: Darn kids
I put a universal tank from Tanks Inc in my truck and wish I would have spent a little more for the Boyds tank. Mounting the Tanks Inc tank was a pain and still isn't a great setup as it doesn't have any flanges so you have to capture it somehow so it makes mounting funky.

Re: Darn kids
Hey guys, been a while. Been busy as heck at work. Just a quick note to the gas tank and smell issue. I went out and was gonna fool with it one day. I noticed the gas cap was very very loose. I looked, no seal. So, I told my son, hey you might want to check the cap just in case, just a thought. Well, he did. And he bought a new cap and it seems to have worked. So we are good there. He still wants to move it to behind the bed, but now at least he can do other stuff that needs to be done first.

Was this basically a drop in tank/kit? I reached out to Carolina truck shop—sticker from your photo. Is this where Rich works?
