1968 Power Steering brackets
Can someone post pics of their brackets on an ORIGINAL power steering set up on a small block 1968 pickup? Im guessing the bracket with the adjustment slot attached to the bolt that holds the motor mount to the block? Looks like one hole in main pump bracket that attaches to lowest hole on front of block. Then I have another small bracket as well. Could be for PS or alt. Should have taken photos a year ago. And it appears 69-72 uses a different bracket set up

Re: 1968 Power Steering brackets
All I have to take a picture of would be what I took off of a 72. I have never seen anything different than that. Only difference I can think of may be when these first came out in 67 and offered power assisted steering, but I haven't seen one of those in probably 20 years

Re: 1968 Power Steering brackets
I have lots of 69-72 set ups and of course theyre not even close it doesnt appear. The alternator looks to use the bolt coming out of the front of the exhaust manifold instead of having a lower bracket?

Re: 1968 Power Steering brackets
68 ps mounts the same as later years, the back bracket is cast iron though.
The alternator does mount with a front bracket and bolt through the alternator and into the exhaust manifold. |

Re: 1968 Power Steering brackets
68 brackets on left, 2 piece, brackets on right are not related.

Re: 1968 Power Steering brackets
Not a 100% sure if they are correct are not. I know the one aluminum isn't because I just installed it yesterday because the other one was not long enough to adjust it tight.
This is on my 67 Ramp truck with passenger side alternator.

Re: 1968 Power Steering brackets
Here is the setup on the 68 I just sold. It has the drivers side alternator.
