crooked bed or bent frame?

Finally got my truck back to together. The bed is about 1 inch higher on the pass side and the body lines all seem to line up. I assembled the wood bed on the frame and then tightened everything down. I really don't remember the frame being twisted or bent, it was a replacement frame. What makes more sense? bent frame or crooked bed install?

How are the body mounts?

Re: crooked bed or bent frame?

If the cab mounts are good... shim the bed to height and forget about it.

Re: crooked bed or bent frame?

How does the gap between cab and bed on each side compare? If you shim back of bed you will have to deal with adjusting bumper, too. Could be a difference in rear springs from side to side, also.

Re: crooked bed or bent frame?

I just checked the body mounts, looks like this frame was going to be cut down as the body mount brackets are bolted to the frame. Didn't notice that before.

The cab mounts are new poly bushings. The rear springs may culprit, ill have to take it out to flat ground and measure. Im thinking just shim drivers side back bed mount and go from there, since the front bed panel follows the cab trim line fine.

Re: crooked bed or bent frame?

I would get it on flat ground and put a jack under the frame at the rear on the drivers side and raise it up a little and see if it squares everything up. Look down the side and see if the body lines are straight down the side and see if the vertical cab to bed gap is even. If so, spring is probably the culprit.

Re: crooked bed or bent frame?

I had a similar issue. After putting in new springs my frame was 1/4" lower on the left side, but the bed was off by 1-1/2".

I shimmed the bed level and then readjusted the bumper and exhaust to match.

Re: crooked bed or bent frame?

I too had the same problem. Tailgate wouldn't close on the left side properly. I added a 1/4 inch spacer at the last left side bed mount and now it works perfectly.

Re: crooked bed or bent frame?

Likely frame or spring issue, recommend placing on 4 jack stands ,if problem dissapears it's spring problem

Chevy twist tons of threads on it ,

Chevy twist, pretty common . frame machine to straighten it out or half a dozen different ways to use spacers to make it "look " right
