Re: Best way to ship a hood?
After market hoods are shipped in a big box with Styrofoam blocks protecting all corners

Re: Best way to ship a hood?
Check with body shops to see if they have the box a full size hood came in.
I agree with the lots of padding be it Styrofoam or bubble wrap. I have shipped a hood by Fed Ex freight but it isn't the cheapest.

Re: Best way to ship a hood?
I'd say the best way to ship a hood is put in a box packed well to protect it and place the box in a corner where it won't be in the way and wait until you or someone you know can haul it.

This is a louvered hood from somebody out of state. Trying to find good shipping options.

I could wait for that but it would definitely be a while. A long while. Too long.

Re: Best way to ship a hood?
Too big for Greyhound? I had a hickey hood sent a few years back and it was through greyhound.

Not sure how far you are shipping distance wise but I have heard of Pony Express Relays set up thru Forums like us to get larger items/parts it to it's new owner. Difficult now with everyone holed up at home.

Re: Best way to ship a hood?
Yeah, I figure you wouldn't be asking if that was an option. Just was my first thought. I bought a louvered 67/68 hood years ago from a member in NH. I figured I'd take a trip for it. Then another member in VT was coming down so he picked it up for me. I have used Greyhound a lot in the past. I have never shipped a hood, though. There is always shipping as freight/LTL.

Re: Best way to ship a hood?
I had someone ship me a hood out of the NY area. I had quotes from everyone I could think of and others that people recommended, they were all outrages. Ranging from $800-$2500. last call I did was to USHIP, they quoted me $300 so that is what I went with. The shipping costed more than what the camaro hood cost me $150.

Re: Best way to ship a hood?
I might try again. Their website has max dimensions that are smaller than the hood.
