RideTech Shocks Question
Finally bit the bullet and bought some single adjustable RideTechs (Fox) shocks. So I've installed some new lower control arms and spindles. So with the truck on the lift and front suspension at full droop, the shocks won't fit (not long enough). These are the correct size shocks for my ride height for sure and I can compress the suspension till they line up (fully extended)......BUT i don't think I want the shock to act as the stop for the suspension to fully droop......I imagine it's not built for that and will f up my shock.......any insight and solutions. I'm figuring I will need to find a bump stop to install on underside of the upper control arm?
Thanks.....Jim

Re: RideTech Shocks Question
Shock are suppose to not let the suspension fully droop. You are suppose to support them.

Re: RideTech Shocks Question
I went through the same thing a couple of years ago. You don't want the shocks to be bottomed out. At least ride tech is really easy to work with, I went through 3 sets before I got the correct ones.

Re: RideTech Shocks Question
As previously stated the shocks will limit the suspension droop. The important part is that they do not bottom out before you hit the bump stops or they will fail. (Been there, done that.) That's why it is so important to get the correct compressed measurement when ordering shocks for a lowered vehicle.

Re: RideTech Shocks Question
I am going through this exact scenario right now with my HQ’s and they would be protected when your upper bump stop is installed. Just depends on the length of your bump stop though, if it makes contact before your shock is fully extended. I have these ordered. Bumstops

Re: RideTech Shocks Question
My control arms came with the bump stops. Reading your first post, the shocks are at the very least not to far off what u need. My question 2 u is this....does your lower arm have a set up for different settings for the shock/spring. Mine has 3 different settings I can use. I use the outer most 1. This puts more of an angle but it also gives it a little better handling n return. If yours is that way(most I have seen are) then yes u may need longer shocks. While u have them, measure the difference n length from what u have and what u need. May i ask who u bought them from? Most vendors are willing 2 help get it fixed. Also keep n mind that by turning the bottom nut up u are changing the ride height. So if u are sitting a little low by what u want on the ground then turn that nut up to "dial n" what u want it 2 b. Is it possible to post a pic of what u have? This may help things out.

Re: RideTech Shocks Question
I do have the correct shock for my ride height and measurement of the shock mounts at ride height. Got the shocks from Matt at MCB. I have tubular upper and lower controls arms.....LCA by CPP and uppers from Brothers......I don't have options for shock mounting location. I was just confirming not letting the shock support suspension droop. I will just need to figure bump stop to keep that from happening. Won't be a problem wiht driving around and will only be a concern when the truck is jacked up from the frame and suspension is unloaded. Thanks for the help as always guys.
