New ones are cheeep. Spray glue and fabric will cover it nicely

That's funny you ask about one of these, lol. I have one that was in the 72 laying out in the yard that I've walked on for near 2 weeks now

I even had to run out in the rain to get a pic, lol.

LMC HAS REPLACEMENTS AND I AM SURE THAT ANY OTHER PARTS PLACE WILL HAVE A CARPET VERSION YOU CAN BUY

Okay, here it is. Most definately wet, somewhat curled, a bit brittle, but all there.

The po took the tank out and had some late 70's delta 88 seats in it. I gutted them out and found this in there, been in the yard since.

I'd give it to you, but postage would be more than it's worth

I would go with carpet if it is going to show. LMC shows a molded carpet, so that means some one else can get it for 1/2 the price.
If you are going with stock style buckets, then it would have gotten carpet over the tank with the bucket option. (as in if you were going for a correct restoration)

I can't remember if I used the origional cardboard and then covered it with the molded Carpet or not but here is my 71 GMC and it looks sweet!

I had my 69 SWB done in carpet. I had the bucket seats reupholstered at a shop that does a lot of hot rods and show cars and they asked if I wanted the gas tank covered in carpet before they put the seats back in. (they said no extra charge so how could I turn that down) I picked out black color. It was a very nice job and looked sweet. In my opinion I liked the carpet look better than the cardboard cover but it boils down to what you like the best. Sorry no pics.

couldnt ya make something out of like luan plywood ( 1/8 inch thick) that ya c ou ld carpet or put some kind of material in there?
