i was thinking about purchasing some por 15 for my truck. my question is where should i spray it? i want my truck to be very solid as i am going to drive it all year long even during the winter. Also what prep work do you have to do before you spray it?

I have never sprayed it but from an earlier thread don't get it on your thingy, or was that the bedliner stuff?

If you spray it, wear protective clothing. It will not wash off! There is even a warning on the can that says if you get it on you, only time will take it off. It stayed on my buddy for three weeks!

I sprayed the whole underside of a k-5 blazer with it. Man that was a mess my resporator was ruint after but it turned out well.

p.s. use a resporator that stuff is toxic when air borne

I brushed mine on. It's thick enough out of the can that it will spread out. ...and dont even get it close to your thingy...youll be stroking it for weeks trying to get it off....lol.

Like he said. No matter WHAT you get it on, it don't come off! Prep Prep Prep. Do alot of research on their website, It should tell you pretty much everything you need to know.

so you dont have to have a spray gun to apply it? can you just take it out of the can and kind of spread it on? how long does it take for this stuff to dry?

POR-15 works real good but it takes a lot of time to do it. It is a 3 step process.
1st clean using POR's Marine Clean, Then Spray it with Metal Ready, keeping wet for 20 min. Rinse with water, dry. Then apply the POR-15. Be prepared to spend the weekend doing it. They sale a kit for Floor Pans & Trunks that has everything you should need.

I only use metal ready if I dont plan on painting for a couple of weeks. then I sand it down again to get that white crud off for paint. It usually dries in 24 hours. buy small cans of the stuff because the shelf life, after you open it, is really short

I did the entire frame of my Chevelle with POR-15 and I brushed it on. It smoothes out very well. In fact, it looks like it was sprayed. It's some incredibly durable stuff, too!

I spray mine on, but the guys at POR15 will try and talk you out of it. You will waste some obviously by spraying it, but I think the finish is better. And whatever you do, make sure you are covered from head to toe because it will not come off. I ruined a pair of contacts and had black hands....lol

They say it is like powder coat in a can and I think I believe it.

I kept the drivetrain. Body/bad and chassis are gone. 1981 K30, 350/465/205 dana 60 and dually 14 bolt. Has a G80, and a flat bed. Going to replace the flat bed. 1985 K20, 350/400/208 10 bolt and SF 14 bolt. I wonder where I can find some 1 tons. Hmmmmm
