Don't know how easy the swap is but the 6.0 has plenty of power. got one in my '04 K3500, and with the service body on it its a lot heavier than a 72 C10.
good Luck

I know the new GM vehicles are going to the LS series engines. These motors are COMPLETELY different from anything GM has ever done before. Just looking at them, i wouldnt be suprised if there isnt a single interchangable piece! even the motor mounts are completely different from anything else. It could be very hard to do by yourself! (just my 2cents)

The 6.0 is the same physical size as the LS1 just about 90lbs heavier due to being an iron block. Motor mounts are the same as the LS1. Oil pans are interchangeable (use same pick up as pan). Accessory routing is different.

My Bud has done a swap in to a 71 and I think he said it was the 6.0.
He did the complete deal with the OD tranny and FI. Said it was not bad at all. The ECM is mounted with the engine so minimal fuss. Basicly he said They pulled the whole under hood electrical pannel stripped everything off it but the ECM stuff. That gear has the electrical distribution block in it. The Main battery lead goes into that box and then gets split off to the starter. He just added a lead from the battery over to that box and then hooked up the ig sense and was in buisness other then adding the fuel pump a return line and welding up the exhaust. The crew that pulled the engine cut the exhaust after the O2 sensors so even that was cake. Only thing he had not worked out was how to keep the Factory speedo. This was done for a customer. Customer had bought the drivetrain out of a totaled Silverado. I haven't seen the truck so I don't know how clean of a job it was. THis guy is a good mechanic and really good at figuring out problems but not super detailed person.
