Windshield Wipers Have 2 Speeds....
....slow and slow. There is no perceptible difference in position one or position 2. Anyone had this issue? Switch, motor, wiring? Where should I start?

Try a little penetrating oil on the linkage under the cowl.It helped mine.

Could be a bad switch or the linkage under the cowl vent panel could be hanging up and needs lubed. Or it could be the motor. Make sure the switch is not loose in the dash. It has to have a good ground there for the motor to work properly. Here is how to test the different speeds on the motor: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=413551 LockDoc

Re: Windshield Wipers Have 2 Speeds....
Thanks for the additional information, Leon. I have the cowl panel off right now cleaning up under it so it’s all exposed. After i scrub the dirt daubers nests and stuff out I’ll lube it all up. It operates smoothly with no binding or clunking, just slow and same speed.

If the cleanup & lube doesn't make any difference I think I would try the wiper/washer switch next. Let us know if the lube makes any difference or not. LockDoc

Re: Windshield Wipers Have 2 Speeds....
There is a reason this site is considered the best for these trucks, because it is!
Cleaned up everything under the cowl and washed out the bottom of the vent pockets until I got all the crud out. Sprayed all the wiper mechanism down with pb blaster, ran it a bit, sprayed it down with lithium grease and ran it some more. Even with the arms off you can tell there is two distinct speeds. As a bonus when you push the washer button you can hear the pump run. Don’t know if it really works but the motor runs. Waiting to put everything back together after I get the new cowl/hood gasket I have on order. Thanks folks.

Good deal! As far as the washer pump, you might try priming it. I use a turkey baster filled with water at the tank hose connection. Put a little pressure on the bulb while someone pushes the pump button on the wiper switch and the pump is pumping. Don't put too much pressure on it or you will rupture the pump diaphram. Before you do that you might want to disconnect all of the hoses and blow through them with an air nozzle (blow backwards through the squirter nozzles with the hoses disconnected from the wiper motor). Re: Windshield Wipers Have 2 Speeds....
Leon,
Thanks right now my windshield wiper system is all removed except for the pump and squirters. The tank and bracket were missing when I git the truck and the hoses were rotten. It’s on my list but not at the top right now. May get some new hose and plumb it all up just to see if I can get it working.
