Saddle tanks ? Impala gas tank solutions?

Hi gang,

I have 69 C20 Camper Special and it has the 2 poly saddle tanks. They have very old punky fuel and at least 1 of them is leaking. Do they still make them anywhere, or has anyone found an aftermarket tank that could be placed in the same location?

My goal is to get rid of the in-cab tank, and I don't want to put a filler neck thru the steel bed. I don't want to remove the 8 foot bed and cut into the frame for side filler The only solution coming to mind is using the location where the saddle tanks are, or I am starting to research more about a late 1960s Impala tank, and get a hinge license plate bracket and hide the filler behind that.

Also, are the poly saddle tanks baffled? Are the old impala tanks baffled? We are doing an LS conversion next week.

All suggestions and comments welcome, I'm quickly learning a lot.

Thanks

Evidently no one has used the poly tanks. Some members have used the rear steel or aluminum tanks and put the filler neck behind the rear marker light or the tail light

If you type "marker light fuel filler" or "tail light fuel filler" into the Google box up above, click on the circle in front of "67-72chevytrucks.com" and click on the google button. you will see many pictures and instructions on how to do them.....

Re: Saddle tanks ? Impala gas tank solutions?

Thanks Leon, I have been trying to research the forum. I didn't try that wording in the search. I have been oping to find the easiest solution. Most I seen so far have been tanks swapped with the bed removed.

I'll try those searches shortly.

Camaro tanks are popular too for the rear with filler behind the plate.

Leon, I'm glad to see someone has a means of actually finding something in a search as all I have had even marginal luck with is using Google. I studied what You said as to how to search and looked best I could but unfortunately You lost Me. What circle are You referring to? Is it on the forum page or on a new google page?

The one on the board, right below the Google search box. See picture below.
