timing question

I just put a 402 in my 1970 k2500, i'm using a pertronix 3 distributor, they say it comes set with 14 degrees of advance, i've got my timing set at about 14 degrees at idle. so the total timing should be 28 degrees do you think that's enough, I can increase the advance on the distributor all the way up to 22 degrees of advance if needed. the motors just mildly built, bored, stock iron heads, stage 2 cam (step above an rv cam). runs hot with acceleration so I thought I might need more advance???
