Original tailgate identification
Is there a sure way to identify an original gate from a repro? I found a gate locally that looks straight, no rust and good price but the seller doesn't know the origin of the gate as it came in a package deal. Any crimps, GM stamps, codes?

Re: Original tailgate identification
If you can pick it up easily with one hand it is a repro.

Re: Original tailgate identification
Here is a good tailgate thread.
It shows some of the differences in the stampings of the OEM gates. I don't know what the RePop looks like. Link:http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...ailgate+thread .
