WTB: sandalwood dash pad

Want to buy a sandalwood dash pad for a 72 with parchment interior. No cracks, nice condition needed as rest of the interior will be restored.

I have some black and medium green sun visors if interested in a partial trade.

Thanks!

Do you have an existing dash that can be restored?

Here is your best bet for a nice dash pad.

They have the color your looking for.

They seem to only have saddle, not sandalwood, or am I wrong?

Re: WTB: sandalwood dash pad

I have a factory Dash I am going to be offering for sale, I can cover it in the material of your choice, with or without Custom Stitching.

Interesting option. Does it end up looking stock with the covering? Truck is going to be all stock restoration. Also I’m not entirely sure what the correct color is up close. I’ve only seen photos of the correct dash color for a parchment interior.

Re: WTB: sandalwood dash pad

Well, It would be a Factory Stock Dash Recovered, just like your seats will be original seats with new covers.
The alternative is a New repopped dash.
like one of these..

Re: WTB: sandalwood dash pad

My options are (a) finding a nice original, (b) recovering an existing dash pad with the correct color material, or (c) buying a new one and getting vinyl paint to match the original color. They don’t make the correct color hence why I’m looking for an original. At a minimum I can use it to color match.

Re: WTB: sandalwood dash pad

I have a 72 Blazer with what I believe to be the original sandalwood dash. It has parchment interior, but dash and steering column are sandalwood. The pad is busted up pretty bad on the top but the under edge where the screws go in is still in nice shape. I can send you a pc of that for color match if needed as shown on the yellow paper in the pics.

Yes.

Here is their description. Sandalwood is listed.

"This Dash Pad is made with the same tooling that GM made your original pad with. No one else can say that. Soft foam wrapped with original vinyl. Read other ads carefully. They use words like "like" "close" "better" but these are exact. Available in Black , Metallic Blue, medium blue Dark Saddle, sandalwood, Red and green ."

After you buy one, they as what color you want before they ship it.

I think i am going to order one to see how close it is to my original. I could use 2 so it would be great if they are correct.

Re: WTB: sandalwood dash pad

I messaged the Ebay seller earlier to see about getting a sample to match up to my dash. He said he is going to talk with production to see about getting one

I ordered the OER dash pad from Summit Racing.
They shipped me a Dashes Direct brand.
NOT paintable vinyl.
Urethane.
It has a big hump in the middle of the dash that I’m trying to get out.
It sucks.

Be careful ordering.

Mine was just black.
But it was suppose to be vinyl, NOT urethane.
I got tired of trying to buy what I wanted and installed it.
But I hate it.

Re: WTB: sandalwood dash pad

My 70 jimmy has sandalwood seat covers and came with gold trim which meant gold carpet dash paid and steering wheel. So the dash paid is axially 1968 50 anniversary gold not sandalwood brown. Will take some pictures of still has the original dash paid.

To get the hump out of the middle of the pad, I have found that carefully cutting off the center bolt from the pad will do the trick. The center bolt doesn't exactly line up on the factory hole on the dash. If you have already installed it, getting the hump out may be tough.

Thanks for the info.
It looked better before I installed it.

Keith, I installed mine with same result ! Took radio out and fit the dash pad stud perfect. Tightened it down & no hump no more. Mike.

The radio is out.
It’s more like a curled up edge.
Tightening the center screw doesn’t help.

Re: WTB: sandalwood dash pad

Back on track, I'm pretty sure from what I've read, sandalwood dash pads have been discontinued for a few years now. Whether they'll make one special order, I don't know.
