Help with front brake line?

Hey everyone so I replaced all the drum brakes and lines with new parts 8 months back and had a shop seal everything and adjust all the brakes. It’s been sitting for awhile but now that I’m back to it the front fitting has started leaking again! The rear part in the Brake MC was full put my front was getting close to the end. I’ve attached a picture of what I have going on.

Probably an optical illusion but the fitting shown in bottom of photo does not look square to the brass fitting....You will probably have to take tee fitting off anyway and check the ends of the flares for cracks and the seats in the brass tee.

Thats what I figured but finding that fitting was a pain. I'm hoping just a take off and reseat of everything fixes it

Re: Help with front brake line?

I would clean the fittings with some carb cleaner, dry them, and then spray them with some leak tracing powder or dust the fittings with some flour. Then pump the pedal and then stand on it hard for 30 seconds. Then do a close inspection for leaks. The guilty fitting should be exposed by the wet spot. Once you have it narrowed down then you can do as Notsolo said and check for cracks in the tubing or the fittings or for bad threads.

Tighten it. Double flare fittings rely on being TIGHT to seal. Not uncommon for fittings to leak when doing brake work, especially with new parts. Spray with brake cleaner, tighten, monitor closely.

If all the above fails, nothing is cross threaded or damaged, you can try "Copper Flare Gaskets".

Do a search for "Parker Flare Gaskets" and you'll find someone that sells them.

I had to fix a messed up '66 Mustang PS ram setup a few months ago. All four new hoses and the new controller and it would not stop leaking. Had to get a couple of sizes to match the fittings, but worked like a champ.

Re: Help with front brake line?

Thanks everyone! I was able to clean it up and dust it with some flour. I found the leaking side and was able to re tighten everything with no leaks so far. Ill be sure to keep the wrench and a bottle of brake fluid in the cab along with keeping a close eye on it.

Re: Help with front brake line?

They say to tighten then loosen 2 to 3 times on new lines to get everything to seat correctly. Might try it.
