She's Alive!

Still have a LONG way to go but fired the brand new engine for the first time last night. What a nice feeling!

Re: She's Alive!

Funny, I thought so too. Was pleasantly surprised with that elgin sloppy stage 2 cam. won't idle on it's own but I assume that can all be taken care of with tuning (that and I don't have o2 sensors, map sensor installed, etc.) With a nice exhaust set up, all tuned up, might sound really good. Little concerned about the smoke but hoping that will get better also. Everything is brand new (rings, bead hone, etc) and I did put some oil in the cylinders before I buttoned her up about 6 months ago. Hearing that after a full winter of sitting, and a full 6 months of meticulous assembly prior, really gets the motivation kicked up a notch. I'm sure you all know the feeling at one point or another.

Funny, wife says "what the hell is wrong with that? It sounds terrible. I'm not riding in that". Made me laugh

Lol. So funny. She must be related to my wife somehow. 🤔

Re: She's Alive!

Heavy smoke like that in a brand new engine would have me very concerned.

New engine meaning I rebuilt it. I did file the rings to gap them for boost. The cylinders have been honed and I did dump some oil in the tops of each combustion chamber. So, that was the first ten seconds it’s ever run and nothing has heated to been broken in. I’m not going to stress it until I get a full 20 minute heat and break in cycle. Besides, I could do a quick compression test to check
