1978 Steering Shaft
I’m looking into redoing my steering, new gear box and new shaft. I read about swapping in a Jeep Cherokee u-joint shaft works great. The truck this would be going in is a 78. I’m getting conflicting info researching this, some say it works on all trucks 73-87. And some say it only works on 79-87. Does anyone know which one is correct?

I believe up to 79 had a splined shaft end on the steering column and 79 and after is a double d.

It is really easy to check your column. if the bolt goes through the center of the intermediate shaft it is double D. If it clamps at the side, it is splined
