what aftermarket tach fits the stock hole on my gauge cluster? and how do install it? do i just cut through the metal and put it in under the printed circuit without messing up the printed circuit?

i think the sun pro tach fits in there not sure i got a 5 inch autometer strapped to the column

Yes the Sunpro will fit in there. Have seen the black one installed in a dash in a local truck. I am getting ready to install a white unit in my white dash. For now I have it installed on my steering column. I will post pics of it when I get it done.

I've got a $40 Sunpro tach in mine....fits like a glove. Didn't have to attach or glue it in or anything

I didn't like mine on the steering collum. While it look ultra cool and old school, at night the light would reflect right up on the windshield in my field of vision....

I agree with yellow72custom, I do get a reflection on my windshield from the tach light at night. I can't wait until I get to install it in my dash. In a bind it works, but it does look alot better in the dash.

mine sits kinda low on the wheel so that if the wheel is sitting straight i can only see the number 4000 through 10000 on the tach the light hasnt been a problem for me but im running and autometer might reflect a little different than the sun tach

hey guys, I have some sort of old no-name tach that the p/o strapped to the column, and it was throwing that light up there for me too...so I pulled the ultimate redneck fix.
too bad I don't have any pics of my mod, but I found an empty case of Coors Light in the garage, and I pulled one of the end flaps off and taped it onto the tach, so its like a visor, plus it says COORS LIGHT really big, between that and the NRA sticker I don't think anyone will mess with my truck, lol

I'm going to put a 70's Camaro tach in mine. fits behind the plastic, and looks more stock. Goes to 7k also instead of 5k. Some board mambers have done this and it looks cool. I have it sitting next to my dash now, when I have time and ambition, I will put it in.
You can get these off ebay pretty cheap.

Here is a Camaro tach installed in mine. Not sure what year this one is, but I think there were a couple different styles throughout the 70's. It does kinda have an "80's" look to it, but looks better than an aftermarket one IMO.

I have an auto gauge tach in mine (by auto meter). Like Yellow72, mine is just a friction fit in the hole. Sure is a lot brighter than the other gauges tho!

The PO had strapped a cheap "pro tach" to the column. I tore that out and installed a factory tach dash.
