Transmission Lines

Just installed motor and trans in my truck, 292 w/200-4R, bought a new aluminum radiator. I need to install new fluid lines between Rad and Trans. What is the best way, buy a couple of brake lines and bend my own or try to order some pre-bent?

I went with braided S.S line . Pricy but cuts out lots of problems

If you are not adept at bending tubing this is your answer.

Re: Transmission Lines

Can you use braided stainless for trans cooling lines and also for fuel lines running from the fuel pump up to the carb with an inline fuel filter? I need to rework a few of my lines.

I used braided stainless with a Teflon inner tube for my fuel pump to carb. If you use rubber inner make sure it’s ethanol resistant.

Re: Transmission Lines

I've used -6 SS braided lines a number of times. Trans cooler and fuel lines. Never had a failure. If you go that direction make sure the trans fittings are correct for the trans. I haven't used a 2004R but on 4L60E's they use a specific adapter with straight threads and washer not NPT.

Where do you usually buy your braided lines?

Re: Transmission Lines

Perfect timing i'm about to deal with this. 200r is the same length as the 350 trans. Why couldn't you use 350 turbo trans cooler lines? I see the prebent stainless lines for about $55 bucks. I reread your post see your using after market rad? The pre bent might not work unless your cooler line ports are in the same place as stock.

Re: Transmission Lines

I bought prebent lines from In-Line and the fit was 90%. Had to bend a bit more here and there, but much less headache than bending my own. I was doing a trans swap, so did not have old ones for reference.

Re: Transmission Lines

Thanks for the replies, while the two transmissions are the same length, I'm thinking the location of the lines are not, regardless the original lines are all buggered up. May be able to save them, but new would be better, especially since both rad and trans are different.

I got mine from my work, we are an Eaton Weatherhead distributor, so we make hose assemblies. I could make you one if you are interested. You can see it in this pic.

I bought mine off eBay from Inline Tube. They are good quality. The only complaint is they put a "shipping bend" in them so they will fit in a smaller box.
I was able to straighten them fairly easily, and they fit well with some very minor tweaking. Mine are for a TH400 though.
