Replacing flexable front brake lines

I have new flex lines that go from the hard lines to the caliper. I can not get the compression nut loose from the hard line to the flex line. I have tried a flare wrench but it wants to round off the shoulders of the nut. Can I put some heat on this to help? Any other tricks?

If it’s completely rounded you’ll have to replace it anyways. I used vice grips on mine when that happened. You can soak it in penetrating oil to help, too

If your changing them i use to cut the rubber line so you could put a socket on .Unless its to round for that.If you heat watch it ,I have had them blow up and spray brake fluid.

Propane torch and penetrating oil.
Take your time.
I usually wire brush as much of the fitting as I can also.

Echo on being careful with heat. A friend was helping me install disk in front. The passenger side was frozen solid where hose meets the steel line. He cut the rubber hose very close to the fitting. He then got his torch and got the fittings cherry red.

I was watching him and he got up and told me to move to the other side of the truck with him. I was following him around and about to ask why went there was a very load pop that startled me. When I went back and looked - the rubber that was gripped by the compression end of the hose had blown out. He just said been here before.

Yeah. I’m just talking mild heat to help break the rust at the steel line fitting.

I just changed mine and I soaked them every day for a week with Kryoil. The only only one that gave me trouble was the rear hose at the frame rail. I soaked that one over a week twice a day and finally put a screwdriver in the side of it and gave it a couple of firm but not to hard whacks with a hammer to just try to shock it. That worked and it came off.
If you already rounded it, that is tougher. Mine are drums but the fittings are always a problem when old.

Thanks Fella's. Not rounded yet but it is not moving. I will treat them with penetrating fluid and see how it goes.

I just ordered more Kryoil (whatever the name of the new stuff is). It made by a company called Kano. I think my giving it a good rap with a hammer helped too, but as others noted, my next step was going to heat. That would be my last thing to try though.
