Vintage Air Blower
I have a Vintage Air System that was installed by a previous owner. the Blower Motor is making alot of noise and I would like to replace it. it appears I may need to remove the hood/Hinge to access the Blower Motor.
Do these systems use the same Blower Motor as what would be used if I went to a parts house and asked for the blower motor for a 67 C10, or will it be different? |

Re: Vintage Air Blower
When I replaced my blower fan (motor was fine) I rebuilt the housing so if I ever need to replace my heater core, I can do it without removing the hood hinge or the entire housing. Someday I'll be happy I did.

Before you tear into it. Take pics of the firewall under the hood and dash. Post em up

Re: Vintage Air Blower
I will try and get them this afternoon. All I can remember is there is a a big round spot with a bolt thru the center right behind the passenger hood hinge (I am assuming this to be the Blower motor).

Re: Vintage Air Blower
I believe what you're seeing is the block off for the stock motor. I think the blower is in the case under your dash.

Re: Vintage Air Blower
I have never worked on a VA product. But from my understanding it's a stand alone unit under the dash. Are you sure the blower motor didn't suck up a leaf or something.

Re: Vintage Air Blower
Pretty sure its a bad Blower Motor. it has a really loud squeal and then a few seconds later there will be no air flow.

Re: Vintage Air Blower
Yep, that sounds bad. Now you need a diagram of how everything is laid out in that case. Hopefully someone who has experience will chime in.

Re: Vintage Air Blower
If it is a VA system your blower motor is inside the cab. The only picture I have that is close shows it here to the right side. Drops out of the bottom. Mine is an older VA system since I bought it nearly 10 years ago and the truck still isn't completed. It should be pretty easy to get to, but I would pull it out before heading to the parts counter. VA is usually very helpful. Look on their site and I bet you can find instructions and part numbers. Good luck.
