Rims & 5 Lug Conversion

What's going on everyone? I apologize if it's been asked before but with a disc conversion, when using then 5 lug conversion kit from CPP kit part number #6370SWBK-50E. I was wondering if with this particular kit that allows you to run the original steering components without having to change them out. Does anyone know if there will be any clearance issues with the rotors when using aftermarket wheels?I know there is a wider selection of rims to use with the 5x5 setup, 6 lug selection is so limited.
For the rear I am just going to have the axles drilled out to the 5x5 lug pattern and install the wheel studs, get the 5 lug drums and call it a day unless I am missing something? Not sure what rims I will go with but I might just use OEM steel wheels at first and then go with something else eventually.

Thanks,
Mark

You will have to have the center hub of the rear axles machined down to accept the 5-lug brake drums. In my opinion I would buy new axles from Moser Engineering.

Re: Rims & 5 Lug Conversion

OEM steelies are getting scarce in the boneyards. But they still make new ones. I bought a pair to replace 2 of mine thst had a litlle wobble. They are fine but my original lug studs came up a tad short for these. I guess because the lug circle is a bit raised. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/wvi-62-575504

Ok thanks, I might just go with a set of aftermarket wheels. I just did not know if there would be issues with the rotor and calipers.

Re: Rims & 5 Lug Conversion

I didn't have any problems using the original steering components when I installed their drop spindles on my 62. If you are trying to install an original style wheel you might have issues with the caliper making contact with the back side of the wheel. I know that my original spare did not fit on mine. If you are installing there modular disk break kit then you will have problems with a 15 inch wheel. If you are using the standard conversion you should not have problems with a 15 in wheel. But if you are converting to 5 lug you can not run an original 5 lug wheel anyways.

Thanks, I just want to get some aftermarket weld wheels or maybe even some s/s Cragars in 15 inch. But I definitely need disc in today's traffic. Too many people driving a little crazy here in the city and it's my daily.
