Dedicated under hood relay box ideas pics wanted.

I am getting ready to build a Dedicated under hood relay box. It will house 10 40 amp relays and 15 blade fuses. I am in the middle of a cummins swaping my tow rig a 1970 C30. I have already upgraded my fuse box now I am getting ready to upgrade the under hood harness. I need to add a lot of accessories and do a few upgrades.

Things I am adding to the box

1. Electric Fan 1
2. Electric Fan 2
3. Headlight high
4. Headlight Low
5. Starter
6. Fog lights
7. Flat bed work lights
8. Headache rack bed light bar
9. Roof rack work lights
10. Open for now

Things I am going to add to the mounting panel I will build to mount the box.

4 heavy duty 100 amp relays 2 for the grid heater and 2 for my onboard air.

One 80 amp relay for the switched power items.

I was wondering if anyone has added a dedicated relay box in your engine bay. I have 3 places I am considering mounting it on the drivers side. I was wanting some pics of what you all ended up doing.

Here is what I am working with. All items are from amazon.

I'm thinking of going with this as my layout.

Here is a pic of the fuse box I ended up making. Here is the link of building it. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=800315

Thumbs up Re: Dedicated under hood relay box ideas pics wanted.

Nice work sir!
I have to ask though, why not just go get one out of a junkyard truck. All the late models have these big relay & fuse boxes under the hood. All you would do is swap the relays and fuses for whatever your hooking it up to. Nice wiring job and you did a fine job with it.

I have my 67 C20 getting a modern front under it. I plan on going the junkyard route in the future for mine.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Thanks, honestly the thought never crossed my mind to get one out of the junkyard. I do have two small relay boxes that came from other projects that I did consider using but I wanted something that held more relays. Now I wish I had asked before I bought the parts.

Finished up the wiring all the main power wire are 12 gauge, except the two fan wires are 10 gauge. The trigger wires and ground wires are 18 gauge.

Nice work sir. That should do it.

I would think about some kind of enclosure to keep water off of it while driving in the rain are when washing the truck though just for a good practice.

Re: Dedicated under hood relay box ideas pics wanted.

Do you have a brand and model number of the relay box that you used?
I could really use something like that, especially if it can be sealed to the weather.

Thanks! i'm happy with how it came out so far. Once I get a set of new inner fenders it shouldn't be to much of a problem. I plan on putting electrical grease on all the terminals when I am finished.

It can be sealed if you make a bottom for it and seal the vents But it should be fine in the engine bay as is, unless your running it through a water crossing or pressure wash it, even then it should be fine unless you somehow manage to get water inside the sealed relays.

Here is the box I used.
