Dusty “barn” find parts?

Here’s a nos hood hinge I got from RI with a thick coat of dust. I can imagine it sat still on a shelf for decades. Neat to see.

Re: Dusty “barn” find parts?

I lived on Jamestown off RI mainland. I can’t believe that hinge didn’t rust completely away?

Re: Dusty “barn” find parts?

No rust at all - still visible lithium grease.

Re: Dusty “barn” find parts?

That dust must have covered it up completely to protect the metal this long.

Re: Dusty “barn” find parts?

Here’s its companion I picked up today at a local Chevy dealership. From the Lansing warehouse. The black phosphate must do a pretty good job against corrosion.

Re: Dusty “barn” find parts?

I sold a N.O.S. Blazer tank on this site in '08 I personally ordered new in '84 and kept stored on the back seat of that Blazer all that time. I showed pictures from every possible angle. All openings still had GM's caps on them that I never removed and the cloth protection around the center seem. Picked it up, brought it home, stored it, took it out to take pictures, listed, sold, and shipped. The seller received it and sent a crappy message stating "Hey, this isn't new!". Yyyup!

Re: Dusty “barn” find parts?

This NOS tailgate was painted probably 35 years ago, and I never used it. It will go on the "Arkansas K10".
