348

I finally did it, I found a good, low mile rebuilt 348 to put in my C10. Planning to put an nv3500 behind it. As soon as I'm done building the new garage I'm getting my truck back on the road.

I vote one hour on garage, one hour on the truck.

Nice score! Looking forward to updates.

Standing up the walls this week, roof this weekend. Then the lift goes in and the truck goes up!

Re: 348

I'm insanely jealous. Always wanted a 348/409.

Re: 348

Very cool. Did 348's ever make there way into light pickups? I believe 1961 was the last year for them. I know a handful of 409's made their way into impala cars up to and including early 1965 cars.

Re: 348

The nv3500 may not handle the torque that 348 is probably going to put out. If your real easy it will be ok, a NV4500 is a HD version and can take a bunch.

Re: 348

No, they only came in the bigger trucks. That's probably the best place to find a 409 these days is in a grain truck. Car engines are insanely pricey and the truck engines are basically the same except compression is lower.

Re: 348

I'm not going to abuse it. I've had 3 nv3500 trucks and beat them hard, one was lt1 swapped. I never broke one, I'm sure if I put slicks on it I'll break it but this is just a driver.
