Talking My new truck...1969 CST K20 4x4, 4sp, one owner

After 8 years of asking, I am finally the second owner of this 1969. It’s been in a garage or car port it’s entire life. He ordered it in the spring of 69. It came with loads of paper work and almost entirely stock.

I have done some reading on the subject and I would like to swap the breaks to disc in the front. They work and okay for driving but want it to be better. I am mostly a 2wd Chevy guy (have a 72 2wd Blazer LS3/6spd) but new to the 4WD. Any advice on what to look for? The 69 hubs are lubed by the front diff and so I would need to swap the front diff/axle. Thanks in advance.

That’s an awesome K20. Looks like you scored big time! Any 71-87(91 for 1ton crew cab long bed) 8 lug front axle will bolt in and get you front disks. The axles in those years will include: Dana 44, GM 10 bolt, Dana 60. Dana 60 by far being the strongest and most expensive of the options mentioned. The 3/4 ton Dana 44 up to 77ish will allow You to run the sought after blue dial hubs that the 71-72s Came with. 73-77 8 lug 44’s use the same hubs but the dials are mustard color. You’ll also want to change to a disk/drum master cylinder and proportioning valve when you make the swap.

No I forgot to ask. It’s a GM unit to my surprise. Has a PA function and my kids love it!

Thank you. Is there any particular measurement to look at? I found a 44 that measures 69” hub to hub. No year info.

They are all a direct bolt in, No real measuring required.

That sure is nice as it sits! For front axle you can also use 88-91 3/4t Suburban and Crewcab 10-bolt. If it's disc brake and it's from a GM it will fit. Just so you know, what you have there is a K/20. C for 2wd and K for 4wd

Love the cap! I've been looking for a clean vintage one for my truck that isn't disgusting or mangled.

Here's another thread for you to show it off in:

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=330516

There is also Let's see your K/20 in this forym and the 67-72 4wd picture thread sticky in 4 wheel & off road forum. Spread that beauty around some!

I wonder if davepl, the owner of same color '69 Sierra Grande Custom Camper 3500 pickup, will see this.

I know of two '69s this color. I'm sure I've seen more. I'm curious about what is up with the 'special color' thing. The color is not listed as a production option. Might be a late year add-on. I think it's the same as one of the '70 blue polys
