Radio hole fill in
I am looking for something to fill the radio hole rather than a delete plate .
I am thinking of finding a rectangular automotive clock and some how retro fitting it . Has anyone ever done this ? In not , what kind of things have you all done ? |

for installing something other than a radio, it would seem that a delete plate would be the best place to start without requiring metal work and paint.. smooth flat canvas to design your own panel mount gauges, switches, clock, etc..
I found this butchery in my blue burb.. but I opted for the aluminum adapter from brother's to clean it up for a radio.. good luck!

What I did (since my radio opening was hacksawed out) was to install a billet surround, and eventually put in a wood filler panel. It’s a quartersawn oak piece to compliment the glove box door and ash tray.

I bought the same trim plate for the BLZnCST from Brothers. pricey!

few years ago, i got a piece of black plexiglass, cut it to fit and hand sanded the corners, couple pieces of 2 sided tape, mounted one of the round battery operated clocks on the outside edge, had a sticker, think mooneyes, relocated my radio beneath the dash so i wouldnt cut the dash, looked good and no permanent damage to dash

Extra gauges can be added to the radio area. 3, small (2-1/16" diameter) gauges fit nicely if you are willing to do some cutting and drilling on the dash. It may not need opening up if the dash has aready been cut for the newer radios. I used a piece of red oak for the cover plate to match the rest of the woodwork in the cab, but any flat piece will work.
I will be putting in vacuum, oil temp, and transmission temp.
