Bucket Seat Identification

I'm a bench seat guy from way back, but but starting to change my tune. I like these.

I am going to look at these seats tomorrow, the seller thinks they are from a 73-75 Blazer, wondering if anyone can confirm.

I have a 68, a 70, and an 81 and I think they would look good in any of them, but I'd like to know if - after reupholstery - they could be made to be correct in any of those models.

These ones have individual sliders so I imagine I would need a frame to adapt them to, any advice would be appreciated though.

Re: Bucket Seat Identification

Those are 73-7 or so truck buckets, blazer seats are the same but have different mounts.

Re: Bucket Seat Identification

Thanks for the info! Wondering if they would look good in my 68, I am sure people have put them in those trucks before.

I have a pair just like that but they have plastic backs on them and were sitting on these bases. The guy I got them from said they were from a Chevy van but didn't know what year.

If your seats were Blazer they would have plastic backs on them also. The bottom of the seat on mine are recessed quite a bit where the bases bolt on and only the drivers side was adjustable.

LockDoc, those bases are definitely from a van. I have the same ones that are factory in my 87 g3500 box van. Probably the same going back to the 70's and maybe before that.

Just my 2 cents lockdoc. While those bases are can, the seats are not. Gm van seats look great in blazers but the are not as tapered as truck seats. I say blazer seats on van bases

Re: Bucket Seat Identification

I bought them today, along with an extra console. I feel like it was a good deal, these don't come up where I live very often. How often? I've been looking for three or four years.

These have no plastic backs, just exposed foam. I will try to fab them into one of my trucks, I'm actually very excited to try them.

I like the looks of them, I think they will look good in there. I wouldn't think they would be too hard to mount either. Let us know how it goes.....

Re: Bucket Seat Identification

The same mounts as your seats would be in a pickup, Crewcab, or Suburban due to side tanks and Suburbans using the Crewcab in it's construction. Having no backs makes them pickup (reg cab). You can buy the 69-72 fixed passenger side mounts on both sides. I'm 5'10" and I keep my seat adjusted all the way back all the time. I have only adjusted the driver seat forward while working on the truck to get access to mount bolts when removing or installing a seat.
