73-80 Precision window sweeps problem
Not entirely sure what to do with these. As you can see in the pic, the clips are nowhere long enough to affix the sweep to the door panel. Hence, they’re not sitting on or grabbing the door panel correctly. Anyone else have this issue? Is there a better brand who uses the correct size clip?
Holding up my rebuild...yet again. Last edited by 69Tom; 06-18-2020 at 11:50 AM. |

Might give these folks a call: https://www.steelerubber.com/wflt-f2...-81-80-0065-57
A set I ordered for an 84 K30 CUCV fit just fine. |

Re: 73-80 Precision window sweeps
I have similar parts I got from another supplier.
They mount fine, but sit proud of the metal top of the door. When I lean my arm in the open window frame it feels like the window is rolled up a little. The seal seems to work, so I just left it that way. Bruce |

Re: 73-80 Precision window sweeps
Are you sure you did not switch the inner and outer door sweeps around. I bought some from 1A Auto and they fit great. I am thinking you switched inner and outer door sweeps, worth a look.

Re: 73-80 Precision window sweeps
Nope. Didn’t switch anything around. The answer I got from Precision was, some trucks got the longer clips but most had the shorter. This leads me to believe they may not know what they’re talking about unless there was some design change on the door panels to change that flange area. For some reason I kinda doubt this happened.
I watched their install video on a later year model and the clips on these were exactly like the original clips on that model. I just don’t think they’re correct for a 74. |

Re: 73-80 Precision window sweeps
I had the same situation with my 74. I cut notches in the door panel so the seals would end up in the right place.

Re: 73-80 Precision window sweeps
The doors changed in 76/77 (I forget which year exactly), so maybe that is the difference. The later models probably used the shorter clip.
