A/C compressor rattle.
My 82 c10 still has the original r12 compressor and it works, however it's been making a rattle noise that sounds like the bearings are going out. Are these bearings on the clutch or part of the compressor? Any fixes other than replacing the compressor?
Where can I buy a replacement compressor that's not used? Thanks

Re: A/C compressor rattle.
The older long cylindrical compressors can have both the front bearings and clutch replaced. IIRC - without breaking the refrigerant seal. Not sure about the later pancake compressors.

Re: A/C compressor rattle.
I just ordered a new R4 compressor for my 82. $235 on Rockauto. New by four seasons.

Re: A/C compressor rattle.
Sweet, that's not bad. So I'm guessing I'll need the receiver dryer also and some r12 compatible refrigerant?
I'll do some more research to see if I can swap the bearing first.
