67 CST emblem question

What’s the proper location for the glovebox CST emblem. I’m seeing two locations. One is higher up on the glovebox door than the other, why the differences?

I don't believe 67 CST had a "CST" emblem on the gb door - the "CST" emblem shown in the left picture is the CST door emblem. The 67 base got no gb door emblem and I believe the Z61 Custom Appearance and Z84 CST both got the Chevrolet nameplate on the gb door. The correct location is depicted in your left picture - i.e. higher. The pic on the right appears to be a 72 with a gb door dressed up like a 67, sort of (incorrectly from an emblem location standpoint). Might want to pm member countr - he has a 67 CST, he might be able to confirm definitively.

Thanks for the responses! I’ll check with countr. The picture with the red interior is from a dealership brochure. The other picture was grabbed from a google search but looked like it had the small 67 only lighter.

Remember brochures are preproduction photos. And not always the best source for accurate information. Many are not photographs but drawings. And not to mention all the other reasons one truck has an emblem here and an different one has it there.

If it helps there was a 67 CST just listed on the craigslist thread of an unrestored truck that may help.

Correct there has been discussions about the Chevelle deck panel blackout too brochure shows it but from records very few 66 Ss cars were produced with the black out by Fisher body specially the Atlanta plant were mine was made . Mine was original paint and it was body color . Dont go by a brochure.

Agree with the brochure comments - but "generally" speaking, the first year of a new design is usually a little more accurate than subsequent years. In other words, when you can't copy the previous year's material over to your new brochure, one has to generate something new that is based on some design plan - most of the errors I've seen in brochures are a result of copying a previous "similar" year's pictures over to a new brochure when there weren't any "major" changes. In 67, none of the 66 stuff could be copied over to the new model year because of the radical changes. But by the same token, being the first out of the chute had it's own accuracy risks - sometimes design elements didn't actually make it into production.

In this case, however, I think the 67 brochure is actually correct - i.e. it shows a Z61 on the FAR left of post #1 (kinda chopped off) with the "Custom" door emblem in the bottom right of that pic section - and then the next pic shows the Z84 CST with the "CST" door emblem in the bottom right of the pic - and both show the higher-located "Chevrolet" gb door emblem in same location with same emblem (i.e. not a CST-specific emblem for a gb door that year - I don't think there was dedicated gb door CST emblem until 69) Anyway - far right pic on post 1 is a red herrring - good point on the small lighter, but it has 72 doors and door panels, so clearly some hybrid or custom approach, as is the gb door emblem placement. I based my comments in post #2 on the 67 data book, pics pasted in below - and they do seem to align with the brochure as far as gb door emblem being common between Z61 and Z84. Worth noting that 68 data book had identical pictures for the interiors. With all that, I STILL wanted to see a real 67 CST to confirm the above - and pic 4 is the CL ad that was mentioned above. So, brochure, db, and real thing seem to align in this case. It's a miracle...

Sorry, been very busy, Just checked these dimensions on my original GB door and hey are right on. it is 2 inches from edge of the recess to start the pattern.
