Aluminum Radiator for '58 GMC 150?

Need to replace the bad rad in my '58 GMC 150 with 350 V8. Looking at an aluminum replacement, they look great but have doubts about proper fit and longevity. Truck Shop has an original 4 row replacement radiator for 450 bucks. Anyone else have input on the aluminum ones? Thx.

Everyone on this forum seems to speak highly of Champion Cooling Systems. I just ordered one for my 1950 this week. It was only $200 too. There are some guys making knock offs of their radiators but they do have a manufacturers direct buy website so if you get it there you know its authentic and American made.

I have a Champion 3 row here as well ...
Only negative thing is, I cracked the threads on one of the cooler line inverted flare fittings... and looking here on the forum, I was not the only one having this I solved it by Tig welding some -6 AN bungs to it.

Thanks. I'll look into the Champion. Any probs with bolting it up?

Re: Aluminum Radiator for '58 GMC 150?

Take a look at this one from engineered cooling products. http://www.speedcooling.com/1955-195...-Radiator.html

They also have one or more with electric fans and a shroud if that fits one's needs. Their radiator also has the V8 brackets built in. The brackets on my 48 radiator are about 1/8 inch thick.

The one in the photos is mine from them for my 48. Well built, looks right and could be painted to look stock without close exam.

I may sound like I get paid to advertise for them but I am extremely impressed with the one I bought from them.

in my case, the 'brackets' on the radiator were a little wider then the frame it bolts to... so I had to bent them a bit...
Bought an electric fan as well, but made the shroud myself out of alu

Re: Aluminum Radiator for '58 GMC 150?

Not sure on the 58 59 gmcs but a chevy rad wont fit a u.s. 55 to 57 gmc. since the rad cap on a chevy rad would be under the support and leave no way to fill it.
