Front driveshaft question
I have a 72 K10 longbed. I was under the truck today and I noticed that the driveshaft has a threaded piece on it close to the transfer case. What is that thing for?

Re: Front driveshaft question
That’s for the slip joint in the shaft. It holds the grease seal in place and also keeps the shaft from overextending.

Re: Front driveshaft question
That’s a good idea, if the slip joint goes dry it will wear out pretty quickly. That collar should be pretty snug.

Re: Front driveshaft question
I didn't grease my 73 enough, and the splines got to where they would jump under a heavy pull in low range. I had to get a new driveshaft
