I found a guy that has a rebuilt 400 and rebuilt 205 transfer that he will sell for $1200. I plan on running 4:56 gears and around 38" tires. What do you guys think does this sound like a good deal? and will this setup work for what i want to run? thanks for the help.

A TH400 and a NP 205 are two very bulletproof assemblys and will take just about whatever you throw at them....the price does seem a little high, but i really don't know too much about T-cases

you guys think that the price is way too high? ... I've been looking and to have a tranny rebuilt it will cost me around $1000 thats from my neighbor who rebuilds trannys i dont have any idea what t cases go for. but keep the input coming i dont want to pay too much. thanks for the help.

GOod good I had a turbo 350 rebuilt for 500 bucks. I'd keep looking around if i were you. I'm on the east coast too.

turbo 350s are cheaper to rebuild than a turbo 400!!!!!!!

I bought a rebuilt TH350 for $285 with a 6-month warranty....but i knew a mechanic so i got an "inside" deal

I would have to say it all depends what was all put in to the small block 400. Is it a stock rebuild or is it high performance? What was it built for, low end torque or high rev. HP ?

205 is bullit proof gear driven assembly. Mine needed about $200 in parts, seals, gaskets, etc. A friend did the rebuild for a night out at an adult entertainment club. I guess I spent close to $250 that night, but I was drinking and had a private dance too :p

If you do the R&R of the tranny and tc, you will save some money because most shops don't like the heavy tc. It's actually a piece of cake, hell I flat backed the 205 tc back in the truck with a friend to help start a couple bolts.

He's talking about a TH400 tranny.

hey guys thanks for the advice i did some looking around and found out that the price is too high and im gonna keep looking. if anyone has a 400th and a 205 transfer im interested thanks.
