cut 1" drop springs?

I installed some 1" drop springs on the front of my '68 c10, all the rest of the front suspension is bone stock, right down tho the drum brakes.
I would like to get it about 1/2" to 3/4" lower, 1" at the absolute max.

Would cutting a half coil off my new springs accomplish this? I've never cut springs before.
Anything I need to know before I cut them?
still rides like factory with the -1" springs.
will cutting them affect ride quality much?
Maybe, I should just leave them alone. I just want it a tiny bit lower.
...Big block swap?

Re: cut 1" drop springs?

Cutting 1 ring will drop 2+inches so a half will get You in the ball park, but the springs are indexed to fit the pocket and not try and pop out or ??Think a person would just be chasing a problem then better to do it right then suffer the agony. JMO

Re: cut 1" drop springs?

If you cut them with a chop saw or die grinder with a cut off blade.

Re: cut 1" drop springs?

I cut 1 coil off of my '71 GMC looking to level it. I have "4 lowering springs & a 1" block in the rear, stock front springs w/2.5 dropped spindles. I cut the coil with an angle grinder and dressed the end up so it fit the pocket. Been a long time but it seems like about 2" like kaycee said. Maybe cut 1 coil off your stock springs if you still have 'em.. Might come pretty close to your desired height.
All it cost is sweat...PLEASE beware of low flying springs !!!
PS.. Big Block swap is a good option, I like the one in my Blazer!
