400TH Kickdown Wiring - Fused/Relayed or not?

I have a Turbo 400 in my 72 now and will be adding the kick down switch at the gas pedal. I can't find any Chevy diagrams (if it's in my assembly manual...It's hiding real good).

I think I know that it needs IGN switched power, but does it get fused (if so, what size fuse?)?

Should it utilize a relay? I'm sure I have seen the kickdown relays NOS for sale. Not that I have to be 100% concourse correct, but I do want to do it right.

Depends on if you have an older 400 or newer. When the 400 in my 69 went south I had a newer one here in the shop I had rebuilt. It required a kickdown as the older one didn't. I went with the Lokar kickdown kit, All you had to do is run a wire to a switched connection at the fuse block and the other went to the sender on the trans.

Fig.36 & fig. 37 of the 72 service manual. 18 ga pink to the pedal switch, 18 ga org. from the pedal out to the trans conn.

Thanks folks... Does the pink wire have a fuse inline? I assume 18 ga wire does not need to be relayed.

My 67 doesn't have a fuse or a relay. Neither does my GTO. The coil in the transmission draws very little current.

The pink wire plugs into the fuse box. No inline fuse, no relay.
