New brakes
The shop almost has the Ramp truck finished. Been a long summer without it. But it will be worth it once it's done. Installed the whole front end out of a 86 2 ton. Putting new ball joints and control rods in it with new motor mounts. Also getting a good alignment on it as well.

Re: New brakes
Na, he had to do the pitman arm and stuff. I drove it home just now. I sold the old frontend for $50.00 before I left his shop. It drove good and stopped really good. I told him I wasn't in a hurry for it and I spent almost the whole month of July at the beach so it wasn't a problem.
Now to get the hub caps installed on the front.

Re: New brakes
Well I got to take the truck back. The brake line going into the master is leaking. I tightened it up but still drips. Going to take it back in the morning and he is going to re do the line. I think the flare is bad. I hope that's it any way. Nothing big but needs to be fixed. The front line is leaking.

Re: New brakes
I was going to get me some supper last night and the ramp truck died on me about a mile from the house. I got my neighbor to come pull it home. It was acting like it was vapor locking but had never done it in the past so I decided today to pull the filter and look.
The pictures tell the story. It was about half clogged up. I got a 66 Chevelle 2 barrel carb filter and it fit perfect. I also bought a in line filter and some rubber hose. Hope this keeps all the nasty stuff out. I may take the sender out tomorrow and look at it also.

Re: New brakes
Were the brake lines originally routed that way, or is that the way the installer ran them? Is the prop valve bolted down to the fender? Hard to see from the photo.
Glad it's back in your hands and figured out the stall issue! |

Re: New brakes
I told him to run everything to make it easy on him. So yea it's how he did it. The APV is bolted down to the fender.

Re: New brakes
Andy have you done any fine tuning with your adj prop valve yet? Curious how much you notice minor tweaks of the valve (if any were even needed)

Re: New brakes
I haven't made any as of yet. Rangy said he drove it a few times and adjusted it to get the pedal to feel good. It feels like it did before so right now I'm happy with it. I plan at some point to jack the rear end up and put it in gear and get them moving just enough to see how soon they engage though.

Re: New brakes
The guy doing the work found the whole upper A arm with new parts cheaper than the parts to rebuild the old arm. It got new upper arms on both sides. It sit's about 2" higher than it did. The 86 front end springs where not sagging at all like the old ones.
I just wished I could drive it. I've been waiting 3 weeks on the carburetor to get rebuilt. Suppose to get it back tomorrow.
