Has anybody else had a thread they wrote just outright deleted?

I wrote a thread to point out that it appeared that the advertising links might be going awry. It was subtle. Initially made no statements. Meant to be humorous while raising the question. And when I added a comment that it seemed that administration may have made steps to improve it, poof! My thread disappeared along with any record of me posting to it. I've also had a thread relocated without any explanation except in retrospect. If it's going to be moved or removed I think that calls for at least a courtesy PM. I've always kind of wished for a big brother, ha, but Big Brother? Not really.

Re: Has anybody else had a thread they wrote just outright deleted?

I am not sure if I have moved your threads in the past, Like I am doing to this one as it is obviously in the wrong area. There are times that in an effort to make things easier, I will take a thread and just send it to an area off limits to all but staff and not hand out a violation.this way you dont acrue points. points lead to forum suspensions. If you find a thread moved , you should be able to find it as long as it wasnt sent to the admin area. If you wonder why a thread was removed, it may be best to reread site rules to figure out what was said that shouldnt have been said.. its just another of the thankless jobs moderators do around here

If the people behind the site want to have ads (income or cost reduction, as is their prerogative), it seems we're free to put up with them, leave, or use ad blockers. I see no issues.
As for silently moving posts, maybe a little sketchy depending, but the site is owned by people who govern it as they see fit. Still no issues.

Re: Has anybody else had a thread they wrote just outright deleted?

I broke no rules with what I posted. Just demonstrated concern about images that advertisers were using. One in particular. I found the image and the product mildly shocking and at least one other found it objectionable. Valid topic for a thread, I think. If it was deemed problematic by a moderator then a comment on the thread makes more sense. I appreciate what the moderators are here to do and support it. In fact I wrote the thread for the good of the Forum because I didn't feel what was advertised was in keeping with what the site administrators would want.

What's objectionable to one person may not be to another. Therefore impossible to chase that dogs tail. Next time do a screen shot and post a vote thread and you'll see what I mean.

I am using Chrome, and I have noticed that Google has added in their own add space recently. There was not an add in that section several months ago. I do not believe that the admins have any control over adds that Google places on the board

.
I've mentioned this before...and probably shouldn't mention it again but...

This site doesn't care about ad blockers.

I haven't seen an ad on this site in what feels like forever.

Just FYI,

Nothing sketchy about it we volunteer our time here truthfully we dont have to post or say anything about moving or closing posts as that would add hours to the work we do here I know like me the site owner works a full time job , all posts that are moved or edited are backed up in a place us admins can see. I found the post of op that another admin moved to our secret area they where well withing rights to move it as this is a family friendly site and that picture not necessarily falls into hat category

Re: Has anybody else had a thread they wrote just outright deleted?

Personally, as who I am as well as being forum staff, I feel to drop a line on what's up before deleting without a trace is called for. I feel it is possible to make the time for that courtesy as opposed to "POOF! Gone". I feel it would prevent a lot of negativity and certainly worth the time. I feel doing that would be helpful in preventing that same thing, or similar, from happening again if the 'perp' was told what they did that caused the thread to go "POOF!". That one simple post or PM would eliminate the need to take time to post in a thread like this.

Threads being moved are self explanatory. The thread still shows as 'moved' in the location where it was posted. You can click on it, the thread will open, you will see where it was moved to, and you can continue to post. I see no need for any further action there.

I would assume/hope the same courtesy occurs if one is assigned “points“.

I'm sorry, reporting a post is essential in the process of efficient forum administration. We can't read everything (although we try), and getting a report allows us to quickly deal with spam or with a post that violates forum rules.

yes if we are giving points you get a PM unless youve blocked PMS from all on the site. it explains the violation and the amount of points and if or when they expire.. Bots who come in here and spam us are banned for life.. some who continually violate are banned for up to 90 days.. but if you read the site rules you should be ok..
Sometimes i edit a thread when i see a non subscriber has posted a want to buy that is a little ambiguous so it reads they are looking for a vendor source as opposed to trying to solicit a response from a member for a part , which as we all know is against site rules for a non subscriber.
If there is a post that is going south because people need to feed it sometimes ill just edit it out and see if it simmers down instead of issuing a warning and points...
I guess some people dont appreciate when you try to not be a walking rule book

Re: Has anybody else had a thread they wrote just outright deleted?

I started an innocent thread that got deleted. It was intended to be tongue in cheek but too many people took it seriously.

Deletion was probably best.

I learned one thing. Don't tease this bunch about cutting the dash.

EDIT; After some thought, the thread my have been closed, not deleted. What ever, I got over it.

Yep, there’s no way we can keep up with everything, especially in the high traffic areas of the board. Heck I’ve missed violations in my own threads from other people on the past. We do the best we can and all of us are human.

Re: Has anybody else had a thread they wrote just outright deleted?

I feel there is one pathetic post right here in this thread. Was it intended to be helpful in some sort odd and incomprehensible way, Mr. You know Who I Am Talking To? Just about a troll post if ever there was one. Trolls are truly pathetic. We are fair here but don't push your luck. See that line you are standing on? Best take a step back and move on and not make the same mistake again.

The OP only posted that thread with that picture out of concern for maintaining the decency of this board. The person who called him sick has poor comprehension skills or maybe just can't read real well. This thread smells like a rat and is going nowhere positive. It's time to end it... POOF!

Y'all, I know the staff closed this thread. I just need to say if you review the site rules, and follow them, you likely won't have an issue. If you have a question, feel free to PM me and ask. If you feel a staff member did you wrong, bring it to my attention. If you think I did PM N2TRUX. We try to be fair. Right now I have 3 pm fire in the ovens going on. I walked away from them for a few days, as well as the sh!tfest with randy500. Why? So we do not lose a dozen or more members. It's hot y'all.. and my bs meter is pegged out. Please just act right and treat the staff right. If you feel wronged PM me .. it's all good
