Gas guage

My gas guage recently started to go way past full when full what causes this seems to work fine other wise.

Also does this mean it will be empty at quarter tank mark?

Thanks

mine has done that too i run my tank down to fumes sometimes and it seems to be ok i dont think you have anything to worry about yet without actually looking at your truck im hoping to get through the winter like this i have a feeling its a wiring issue somwhere but its too cold to mess with it here

Mine reads about half full when it is completely full. What would cause this?

Fuel gage senders

Incorrect dash gage readings are mostly caused by... poor body or fuel tank grounds... poor connections to sender,,
tank unit is bent, coming apart, or float is becoming filled with fuel. Float in tank can fill with fuel or just become saturated with fuel and gage will not indicate tank capacity. A quick test to check dash gage is to ground sender wire. Dash gage should indicate full or over full....
