reproduction sport mirrors - any good?

Are the repop sport mirrors for 73-87's any good? I know the ones for 72 suck, and are not worth getting.

Trying to figure out if I should hunt down a set of NOS, or just get the repops. They're certainly a lot cheaper.

Thanks.

I got a set from them and the only issue I had was they always moved going thru automatic car wash. I had the original set. One was cracked and the other was scratched. I finally decided to look for the mirror glass and found them on ebay. Perfect fit and the original mirrors do not move in car wash.

Re: reproduction sport mirrors - any good?

They look just like the sport mirrors on my 70 Impala. I have plastic repops that are lousy but I have put up with them for 15 years. I have seen repops made of metal that have to be 10 times better than my plastic ones. Classicparts doesn't say if they are metal or plastic but I would hope they are metal.

Have a link to the glass, and how did you attach them?

My right mirror glass is gone, but the rest of the mirror is fine. I tried gluing a replacement in there and it fell out one day, and I haven't been able to find another.

This is the link where I got them. Just be sure to compare the dimensions given to your mirror to be sure of the fit. They fit mine perfect. I used clear silicone sealer to glue on. You will need to remove old glass and clean glue points good.

Not exactly the sport mirrors, persay, but these are what I put on my 81. I liked the idea of the convex on the passenger side. They hold their position and I have not had any issue wiuth them in 2+ years they have been on the truck.

Oh, those are interesting. Does it solve the problem of the passenger side mirror being practically useless? Or do you use the convex on the driver's side?

I just installed a set of these yesterday. The right side convex is great! Can see down the side of the truck good and 10-15 ft to the side of the truck. Seem well made, chrome is nice. Hope they stay tight and don't droop like some repops. They are made by United Pacific, which usually makes pretty good stuff.

yes it does make it useful. I may eventually put the elephant ear mirrors on it, but these are working just fine for me. I even put the wide wngle (convex) one on drivers side too. It helps with that side also.

Six years from LMC, nice and solid, like mine in the vertical vice horizontal.
