Is your 5.3 buring oil ... possible fix.

GM has a Valve Cover that has been re-designed that might solve this. Looks promising.

Where is this cover? I was looking at the LS6 valley pan that has a built in pvc type thing that eliminates your in line pcv. Looking inside my intake looks like I have missed quite a few oil changes inside my fuel tank.?

the baffle inside is the new piece that was re-designed. I'm going to try this on my 2009 Yukon that fills the intake with oil and smokes

Re: Is your 5.3 buring oil ... possible fix.

Oh thank you! I suppose this fix should work on most LS engines. I now have 3. I just bought a 2014 GMC 5.3. I also have a 99 5.7l and a 2006 6.0 LQ9. I can use this info on all 3 most likely.

Re: Is your 5.3 buring oil ... possible fix.

I'm installing the new Valve cover next Monday so hopefully my excessive oil use will decrease.

You sure about this bulletin? Sheet says years affected start at 2007?

I am fairly confident ... I spoke to my GMC dealership and they said the vlve cover was redesigned ... which syncs with the oil consumption issue.

Re: Is your 5.3 buring oil ... possible fix.

The valve cover was re-designed for AFM (displacement on demand) engines but that doesn't mean the non AFM engines will not benefit from the re-design.

This is an interesting conversation about oil consumption and synthetic oil use.

Re: Is your 5.3 buring oil ... possible fix.

If it was motor oil getting sucked through the PCV breather system and not from excessive cylinder wear it should make it better.
I'm interested to see what happens.

I know it had something to do with the PCV Valve and the new design has a different designed baffles.
