Getting around to changing cab mounts...questions
Hey guys, I’m finally getting around to replacing the cab mounts on my 68 C10. Previous owner seems to have replaced the rubber on the rear mounts with wood blocks! So that scares me a bit.
Just a couple questions- should I jack up the sides of the cab with a piece of wood on the bottom of the rocker, the inside part of the rocker utilizing the cab supports (which are slanted and may pose difficult to position under without sliding off), or the other piece of angle support built into the floorboards near where the seat mounts are? Also, do I have to remove the gas tank? Or just if the rear cage nuts break? Is there any concern hitting these bolts with an impact or should I be sneaking up on them with hand tools to break them lose and hopefully not break them? Any tips you guys can provide would be helpful. Thanks. Nick |

Re: Getting around to changing cab mounts...questions
I undid all 4 cab mounts and 2 rad support mounts
Changed one at a time lifting the cab with my floor jack and wood I did not tighten until all 6 where replaced Need to check alignment of cab to the box and wheels Polyurethane mounts reuse some of the cab mount shells I am under the impression if you can find new rubber mounts they come with new shells installed C10 takes a different set then c20 gor cab mounts c20 and k10 k20 mounts are the same C10 has a shorter rear cab mount |

Where exactly on the cab did you jack it up?

Re: Getting around to changing cab mounts...questions
I used about a 24" long piece of 2x4 and lifted on the "beam" part under the cab that is outside the frame. It appeared to be the most sturdy structure under there.
