Can I paint over coating?

I purchased two front fenders for my '65 C10 from Summit. They came with a black coating on them. Question is, can I paint over this or, does it need to be removed and then primed before top coat?

Don't have to remove it, just sand it.

from what I have read recently, I would test fit the fenders before you paint them. I have not heard great things about aftermarket fenders...Other than that..exactly what bigmoe said...scuff it up, then prime it and paint it. It is probably an EDP coating on it now.

No kidding on the test fit. I had to oblong a lot of holes that didn't line up.

Re: Can I paint over coating?

Wipe a spot with some lacquer thinner and see if the edp coating will hold up to it

If it comes off with lacquer thinner than it all needs to come off, otherwise red scuff pad , seal it and shoot it.
